Ben Jones' Sports Reports

Final year student studying Sports Journalism at the University of South Wales

About

My name is Ben Jones, I’m 20 years old and I’m from a village about 20 minutes north of Leicester. I’ve been in Cardiff for two years now and I’m in my final year at University of South Wales studying sports journalism.

I’m a big fan of many sports. Football is – and always has been – the number one to me. I’m a season ticket holder at Manchester City and have been going to since I was four. My dream is to work in America covering the NFL, hence the increased amount of American Football content on my website. I’ve played football, cricket and I’ve had a stab at rugby, although I’ve figured that’s not for me.

I’ve got strengths and I’ve got weaknesses, I won’t lie. I believe that you do you’re talking through what you produce, and how often you produce. My strength is my writing. I enjoy finding different ways to write stories on the different sports that I cover, and I like to piece the articles together.

I’ve definitely grown in confidence and I’ve learnt that I enjoy things I never thought I would. Podcasting is perhaps up near the top. I’m involved in a rugby podcast with a few of the other boys and I look forward to talking about rugby on a weekly basis, even if it isn’t my first choice sport – it’s interesting to learn about the vocabulary involved. I’d say that this is a strength as I’ve got a strong voice.
